HokeyPokey

(apologies to Jimmy Buffett)

They Don’t Do the Hokey Pokey No More

walking down town streets, yelling is loud
all the signs, the vitriolic mobs and crowds
guess I’m just an old man, or they’re all sore
’cause they don’t do the hokey-pokey no more

me and ol’ katie my what a pair
just shaking our feet as no one else dared
slidin’ and glidin’ across kindergarten floors
but they don’t do the hokey pokey no more

“Take it Gonzo!”

“Shk chuk, shuk chuk, shuk chuk”

Well the muppets aren’t on tv, all the kids get high
got bandanas and bullets, makin’ mothers cry
hurtin’ each other’s families just on a dare
’cause they don’t do the hokey-pokey no where

ah, but the dance is not with us, it died long ago
and all the kids we’re losing, guess that’s how it goes
but the grownups don’t care as long as they get their score
’cause they don’t do the hokey-pokey no more

me and ol’ katie my what a pair
just shaking our feet as no one else dared
slidin’ and glidin’ across kindergarten floors
but they don’t do he hokey pokey no more

but katie’s long gone
and I’m just an old man I’d probably get sore
And I don’t do the hokey-pokey no more
