Warning, the man curses about as much as I do, but he’s damn straight right about programmers needing to get statistics

I’d just be glad if they actually understood the scientific method.

best line of the whole article:

If you want to measure something, then don’t measure other shit.

I think I’m even more impressed with mongrel now. What can I say, I appreciate a well written rant.

I’m not quite into reading R programming books for fun (sorry Kevin) - but I might spend some time with it to start getting some performance and interesting stats out of our logs.

Good grief, it’s the return of Emacs

I love textmate. And I haven’t used a single bundle yet. (though I bet the Subversion bundle rocks). But… sheesh.

(speaking of textmate, a huge thanks to Duff for telling me about Ctrl+S - before I knew about that, TextMate Find and its modeless-find-dialog-that-doesn’t-show-up-in-the-window-menu was driving me nuts).

I just momentarily forgot how to spell “mississippi”

I just reminded myself how to spell it by singing to myself “Emm-Eye-Crooked Letter-Crooked Letter-Eye-Crooked Letter-Crooked Letter-Eye-Humpback-Humpback-Eye”
